The British Security Industry Association (BSIA) is pleased to report a marked increase in membership growth this committee year, welcoming on board 26 new members since July 2016. These figures represent a 37% year-on-year increase, with the BSIA welcoming 19 members during the July 2015 – May 2016 committee year.
This strong growth rate serves to demonstrate that the Association is as relevant as ever as it celebrates its 50th year of service to the United Kingdom’s private security industry. Over the course of its 50 years, the Association has grown in both size and influence, enabling it to represent the best interests of the industry from small and medium sized businesses, to global corporations.
“BSIA membership can benefit companies in a multitude of ways, from keeping abreast of changes affecting our industry, to the opportunity to assist in the development of new standards. Over our 50 years, we have been able to establish prosperous relationships with the Government, Police, Inspectorates and consumer groups, ensuring the Association is well positioned to drive engagement with key industry stakeholders.“ comments Sharon Mughal, the BSIA’s Membership Development Manager.
“It is important that we grow our membership in order to maintain our influence as the industry’s leading trade body. As such, the Association regularly consults with members and reviews its membership strategies in order to explore initiatives that may bring new companies into the fold, such as our brand new probationer scheme,” Sharon adds.
The BSIA’s new probationer membership scheme allows companies that do not have their IS0 9001 certificate yet, but that meet with the rest of the BSIA’s rigorous membership criteria, to temporarily join the BSIA on the condition that they will achieve their ISO 9001 certificate, accredited by a UKAS certification body, within 12 months of joining.
