As recently covered in the Wisbech Standard, Anglia Locksmiths have been trading for 50 years! They are based in Wisbech, Cambridgeshire and are a family owned business ran by long-time LASM contributor Mark Ward and his team. They have a retail outlet as well as a fully functional mobile locksmithing service and are members of the Master Locksmiths Association.
The shop first opened in 1964, headed by Ray Ward (Mark’s father) and was then situated in Walsoken, Norfolk. Originally the shop sold painting and decorating supplies, however the business evolved when Ray befriended an American tourist that requested a key to be cut. The gentleman went on to teach Ray how to locksmith and the rest, as they say, is history.
After several changes of premises, the shop finally settled in Church Terrace, Wisbech, Cambridgeshire in the 1980s where it is still trading today. Following the sad passing of his father in 1995 and his mother in 2013, Mark inherited the family business and has taken it from strength to strength. Keeping with the tradition of selling ironmongery, hardware and DIY equipment, the shop still sells all of these supplies today. In addition to that, they sell everything you could possibly need in relation to locksmithing and home security solutions.
Anglia Locksmiths have recently refurbished their entire shop, so customers can benefit from more space and even more stock availability. With over 18,000 different key blanks, and the skill to key cut for even broken and antique keys, you are bound to find a solution to any key cutting issue you may have.
As well as key cutting, the shop interior is superbly stocked with secure storage solutions for your home or business premises. Such as : safes, safe boxes, a wide variety of chains and padlocks and parking posts as well. Anglia Locksmiths can supply and fit British Insurance Approved locks to all types of doors and windows, including uPVC. Engraving and sharpening are also included in the vast variety of available services provided by Anglia Locksmiths.
Many congratulations Mark Ward and all of his team on 50 years of business! It all started way back in 1964 by the late Ray Ward and we are sure that both he and his late wife Wendy would be very proud of the successful name that Anglia Locksmiths has become. Here’s to another 50 years!
Mark has also contributed articles to the World Renowned Locks and Security Magazine, proving locksmiths really do write the features.
