Crime statistics for London

The image presents various statistics about crime in London, particularly burglary. Overall, burglary rates in London have fallen from 2011-2012 by 12% in 2013-2014 from a recorded 96,155 offences to 88,463. This is an encouraging trend!

However, as many as 1 in 5 crimes in England and Wales may not be recorded by police, and many others are not even reported, often because nothing of great value is taken.

According to MoneySupermarket’s annual figures for the UK’s most burgled post codes, 12 of the top 20 were in the London area and mainly Northern London, so although burglary rates in the capital may be dropping they are still pretty high when compared to the rest of the UK.

The infographic then offers some suggestions as to how homeowners can improve their security. We thought it was a very useful graphic that many of our readers, particularly those in London, might find useful.
