I’m just emailing over some information about travelling to and from Nottingham, following our earlier conversation.
The tram works are taking place at Bardills island (A52) which is off junction 25 of the M1. The Highways Agency are concerned about congestion here and traffic queuing back onto the motorway, as the works involve lane closures, so have put a long diversion route in place on the A52.
My advice to people travelling to Nottingham over the next two weeks would be to avoid coming off at junction 25 if at all possible. It is still open and accessible, but will take longer than usual.
When coming from the south, I would advise taking the A453, which is junction 24. There are works taking place on the A453 but these are taking place later in the evening and at night, between 8pm and 6am, so shouldn’t affect daytime traffic.
For traffic coming from the north, I’d advise taking junction 26. I’ve attached a Google map showing the junction locations as well as a PDF leaflet about the works. I’ve also pasted some information from the highways website below, as well as a link to a page about the A453 works.
Hope this helps.
